Trains are very frequent, make few stops, and the journey takes no more than 40 minutes, running first along the Tagus then along the ocean. The fare is \u20ac2.90 one way. You won&#8217;t wait more than 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to visit Estoril and enjoy seaside walks, here is my one piece of advice: take the train from Lisbon, stop at Estoril station, walk through the tunnels to the beach just behind the station, and walk all the way to Cascais. You won&#8217;t regret it!<\/p>\n<h2>How to rent a bike in Cascais<\/h2>\n<p>In Cascais you can rent a bike for free through the municipal <strong>Bicas<\/strong> service (basic bike, no gears). You will need to show your passport or driving licence and leave your contact details. Nearby you&#8217;ll find an observation terrace and a caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Farol da Guia lighthouse<\/strong>, 5 km from the train station, is worth the journey \u2014 best reached by bike on the safe, traffic-free cycle paths.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>centre of Cascais<\/strong> is small and easily explored on foot. The small alleys reveal typical Portuguese architecture and traditional wave-patterned paving in black basalt and white sandstone. In 2006, a monument to King Charles I was erected on the Cascais dam \u2014 it was he who chose the town as the royal summer residence, transforming this former fishing village into a fashionable Atlantic resort.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Estoril<\/strong> is home to the legendary <strong>Casino Estoril<\/strong> \u2014 which inspired Ian Fleming when writing James Bond.
